What? 

Research shows that supplementing horses’ diets with anti-oxidants (such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and selenium) aids the respiratory system, the blood vessels surrounding the lungs, and provides valuable nutritional support to help maintain respiratory tissue integrity. In a recent study of 37 horses, feeding RespirAid DHA showed positive benefits in just 7 days (including decreased cough, nasal discharge, respiratory rate, and respiratory effort), and in another trial was shown to significantly increase plasma Vitamin C and Vitamin E in both moderate and aged horses. RespirAid DHA also contains key minerals, zinc and copper, that aid in developing resilient tissues and repair of damaged tissues, and manganese, which acts as an anti-oxidant and has been shown to have positive effects when used for human patients. RespirAid DHA provide MSM for its anti-inflammatory capacity, as inflammation of the airways is a common cause of respiratory symptoms. Now with added DHA and EPA, RespirAid DHA provides even more inclusive support for respiratory health and immune function.

Why? 

Respiratory stress is common for today's horses. Environmental factors such as stabling conditions, bedding, quality of ventilation, stress, travelling, mixing with other horses, allergens, pollution, dust, and fungi can accumulate in and irritate the sensitive lining of the lungs and respiratory tract. Further, some sports have high occurrence of leading to respiratory damage, due to the nature of the equine respiratory tract.

When? 

RespirAid DHA should be fed on a daily basis to help support a healthy respiratory system, especially for horses at risk due to their sport or environment (chronic allergens, dust, pollution, mold, etc.). It is also ideal for horses and ponies that are stabled for long periods of time or have restricted turnout, those exposed to stressful situations (i.e. travelling, competition, change of barn), during changes in hay and feed, or for horses with seasonal allergies.

Directions for Use:

Use the 25ml (20.5g) scoop provided.

For horses requiring extra respiratory support, higher doses can be given for 10 days. If after 10 days respiratory symptoms are improved, reduce to a maintenance dose.
