Dr David Marlin BSc (Hons) PhD

Head Scientist, Equine Physiologist
Dr David Marlin is a graduate of Stirling University in Scotland. He trained with FBHS dressage rider and coach Judy Harvey before going on to obtain his PhD from Loughborough University after studying the responses of horses to exercise and training at the world-famous Animal Health Trust in Newmarket.
He then worked as equine exercise physiologist for racehorse trainer Luca Cumani before returning to The Animal Health Trust as Head of Physiology.
Dr Marlin has worked with the FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) and IOC (International Olympic Committee) and as a consultant to the British Equestrian Teams since 1994 and has been a member of the World Class Performance Scientific Advisory Group.
Dr Marlin’s recent projects have included a review of the effects of temperature on horses during transport for the British Government, an investigation of welfare in Endurance racing for the FEI, development of testing methods for equine protective leg boots, scientific study of the training methods of Monty Roberts and epidemiological investigations into factors associated with elite equine performance.
He holds the academic position of Professor in Physiology at Oklahoma State University, is the author of over 200 scientific papers and book chapters and is the past Chair of the International Conference on Equine Exercise Physiology.

Jenna Kutzner-Mulligan, MS

Jenna graduated summa cum laude and first in her class from Clemson University in 2008, earning her Bachelor's in Animal and Veterinary Science with a concentration in Equine Business Management. While at Clemson, she was a member of the Horse Judging Team, the Horse Show Team, and the Clemson Intercollegiate Eventing Team. Her senior seminar project was on "The Efficacy of Joint Supplements for Equine Joint Health", and she was awarded Most Outstanding Senior by the faculty of the Animal and Veterinary Science department.
Jenna went on to North Carolina State University for her Master's program, awarded a Teaching and Research Assistantship in the Animal Science Department. She worked under world renowned equine nutritionist Dr. Shannon Pratt-Phillips on 10 research projects in 2 years, and her research primarily focused on glucose, insulin, and other metabolite dynamics with the goal of investigating management techniques to reduce development of insulin resistance in horses. Her Master's Thesis "The effect of different feed delivery methods on time to consume feed and the resulting changes in post-prandial metabolite concentrations in horses" was published in the Journal of Animal Science in 2013, and she's also helped author 4 additional published studies to date. She received her Master's of Science in Animal Science in 2012 with a 4.0 and also earned a Certificate of Achievement in Teaching.
After graduating from NC State, Jenna worked for the Greenville Hospital System in Diabetes Self-Management, and then became an Assistant Professor in Human Anatomy and Physiology at Greenville Technical College for 6 years. Ryan graduated magna cum lauda with a Bachelor's of Business Administration and a concentration in Management and Entrepreneurship from Mars Hill College in 2003. He entered the Navy as a Supply Core Officer, under which he was the Disbursing Officer for DDG 97 during it's pre-commission stage, was later tasked with outfitting newly built ships for the Gulf Coast, and was then integral in coordinating supply relief for the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Following his naval career, Ryan initially worked in various financial roles, and then later he became the Director of Operations for an international 4x4 differential company, where he was both the warehouse and financial manager and helped the company increase revenue by 10x in 2 years. He then went on to become the Director of Operations for a financial and retirement planning firm for 7 years.
