Science Supplements® RespirAid Now Includes DHA!
Science Supplements® releases a NEW and IMPROVED formulation of RespirAid – building off our proven ingredients, we’ve now added DHA, as recent research has shown the added benefits of this ingredient for respiratory support. Plus we’ve upgraded our Vitamin E to a Natural form, as this type is a more effective and potent anti-oxidant version than synthetic forms.
Recent research has shown that the omega 3 fatty acid DHA is highly beneficial to horses with inflammatory respiratory disease and for long term respiratory health.
While reformulating the RespirAid DHA we took the opportunity to improve the overall specification, using encapsulated marine sourced DHA, moving to natural sources of Vitamin E, and changed our selenium source to an organic version, which is safer and more active within the body. We continue to use only chelated trace minerals – which are absorbed better by the body than inorganic sources – and a high bioavailability form of Vitamin C to ensure absorption and utilization. RespirAid DHA combines these groups of ingredients to provide the ultimate support for horses with sensitive airways.
Respiratory stress is common for today's horses. Environmental factors such as stabling conditions, bedding, quality of ventilation, stress, travelling, mixing with other horses, and many other contributing elements can all harbor dust and fungal spores which accumulate in and irritate the sensitive lining of the lungs and respiratory tract. In a recent study of 37 horses with compromised respiratory function, feeding RespirAid DHA showed positive benefits in just 7-14 days.
RespirAid DHA should be fed on a daily basis to help support a healthy respiratory system. It is also ideal for horses and ponies that are stabled for long periods of time with restricted turnout, or exposed to stressful situations such as travelling, competition, change of yard, or changes in hay and feed.

The very first Science Supplements products were the brainchild of Dr David Marlin, a scientist with 25 years’ experience in the horse industry who has worked with the FEI, IOC, and as a consultant to the British Equestrian Teams since 1994.
Author of books and over 200 scientific papers, Dr Marlin developed these products to fulfill the need of his professional clients for quality supplements containing high grade, clinically proven ingredients that work.
From 2003 – 2012 the range of supplements were only available to professional riders, trainers, producers, yards and studs in racing, polo, endurance, showjumping, eventing, and dressage, plus to the wider equestrian community in the United States in partnership with Purina Animal Nutrition. 2014 saw the launch of the products in the UK and further export to other parts of the world. In 2019, the US division of Science Supplements was incorporated, with the first products shipping out to US and Canada horses in early 2020.
